Don't we all miss a parent's room space, a parent's hub/coffee morning thing? Where do we go during the chilly mornings ahead after drop off? How do we meet other parents, make friends, feel part of the school community? Where do we learn to make those wonderful things that we see in the school/kindergarten? Crafty Parents group sessions will resume this term with Crafty Caroline, a very experienced teacher who works for similar groups in Michael Hall Steiner School. This is a new informal crafty session. A Parent's hub, in between drop off and pick up time. Be Creative, relax and socialize. Here you learn new crafts, Steiner inspired creations: make simple Waldorf dolls, knitted animals, puppets, gnomes, learn silk dying, needle and wet felting and much more. What you make is for yourself, for your child, or a Winter Fair donation for our crafts stall. The morning sessions on Tuesdays will be adults only, of course little babies are welcome. Crafternoon sessions are aimed at Kindergarten and class one children, home ed families with children 4 years old and over. A place to come for the afternoon to be crafty with your child; come straight after pick up from 1.30 pm to 3.30, to enjoy a simple lunch, make and create simple projects. You can book sessions now! Next dates for LLL : 20.09; 25.10; 29.11; 13.12 Also, we offer parenting support meetups, festive/seasonal gatherings, craft workshops, etc... Wednesdays 10.00to12.00 crawlers and toddlers This group will provide a calm environment for new parents with babies crawling to walking. We aim to provide a more open and relaxed and much calmer session; some parents prefer a calmer and smaller group for their more sensitive toddler. This could be a good first timer group; contact us to be added onto the list or to ask for a visit. Please note, although we invite babies to this group, we are not stopping families with older children. It is still a mixed age group with the majority of babies and young toddlers. Thursdays 10.00 to 12.00 Adult and Child group session- toddlers to young child This session is open to all ages and especially older children who are curious and engaged; we especially invite families with children who are soon stepping up onto Playgroup and/or Steiner Kindergarten and home-ed families. This group is led by a very experienced and qualified Steiner leader and will focus on adults joining in activities, domestic or crafty. We will be baking, making, creating seasonal handmade objects; the idea is that the children join the adults, not the other way round! The group of adults will form a mini community led by commitment and dedication. Some of our parents built toys for our playgroup, mended, added, painted and decorated. A lot of parents in this group will have an older child who is at Greenwich Steiner School and younger siblings at Acorns and are ready to support the school community. Fridays 10.00 to 12.00 Adult and Child group session This group is for toddlers and is open to parents and carers who like to connect and socialize. Here often parents bring cakes and like to drink tea and relax. This group should feel less engaging and more informal; The Friday Club for busy parents! Outdoor nature play session Autumn term @ The Wilderness Greenwich Park Flower Garden each Wednesday 10.30 to 13.30 in the vicinity of the Deer Enclosure in the woodland areas This group meets informally as visitors in this area of the park, it will then visit other outdoor spaces in the area, like Mycenae Gardens, The East Greenwich Pleasaunce and Manor Gardens 'Wild Child outdoor play' A lovely session open to all ages, inviting like minded people into nature play from various backgrounds like gentle care/simplicity parents, attachment parents, nannies, childminders and home ed families. Acorns Adult and Child families and friends meet and children play creatively, with logs, earth, stones, sticks...you will be surprised by the wonderful ideas and the fun with very minimum adult intervention! Totally child led and unhurried. We bring simple snacks/water and flasks, waterproofs, rugs... or not much at all...in emergency we run to the pavilion café in the heart of Greenwich Park for a cuppa! For emergency we mean extreme weather conditions only! This group is ongoing through the Autumn term, and as stated before, it will move location so text me for exact location and time if you are not sure each Wednesday morning. WILD CHILD OUTDOOR SESSION: NATURE PLAY The sessions are continuing throughout summer; nothing is stopping us, so do join us if you are around! Greenwich Park Flower Garden/Deer enclosure Wednesdays 10.30 - 13.30 This outdoor play is relaxed and open to all, in fact, suitable for all ages. Free meetup, social gathering, drop in, no need to book! Free and child led play. Let's go 'wild' in a peaceful secret little woodland area of Greenwich Park by the deer enclosure; Adults and children of all ages; toddlers, preschool age/ older children/ home ed families, Waldorf/ Steiner inspired, nature lovers, park strollers, botanists and the curious. This is an informal gathering, no charge, no particular structure; basically I go there with the kids in my charge and hope to meet with like minded people so the kids can all climb and bounce and dance with the fairies; what actually happens at the beginning is a lot of shyness and eating all the picnic food before lunchtime in this little base of logs; but you will find that the children after a while feel the freedom to explore and play creatively. Minimum adult intervention. I warn you that I do burst into song, though! We have been meeting for a few times already and a few friendships are forming...watch this space! Bring food and water and laughter We meet between 10.15 and 10.30 by pond near deer enclosure top of the park in the flower garden, if you are new, text us, otherwise, if you know the place or are late, come and find us inside the secret woodland area inside and near the deer... follow the bendy path...into the Wilderness (Deer Reserve)* Contact me, Susannah Andrews on 07837931643 * see map below |
