Lantern Festival

Acorns warmly welcomes families to attend our annual Lantern Festival
to be held at Mycenae Gardens.

We will meet at Mycenae House for tea and biscuits first then sing together as we walk out into a magical path through the trees at twilight.

At Acorns Adult and Child sessions we will be making our own lanterns.
Please bring the lanterns you have made in your group, spare tea-light candles,
matches, warm clothing and waterproof clothing on this special day.

We welcome contributions of home made biscuits and flasks of tea for adults and herbal teas/warm juice/punch for the children for this lovely festival.

This is a free event for the whole family.
Siblings, uncles and aunties and grandparents all welcome!

Acorns Adult and Child sessions are resuming after our half term break on
Monday 31st October and we will go on to the  9th December.

​Harvest Gathering, offering a delicious Harvest Lunch
Celebrate Mother Earth's great abundance with friends.
Bread making workshop, served with  healthy seasonal soup.

​Susannah Andrews and the team will celebrate Harvest and explore various ways to strengthen and balance our immune system and prepare our bodies and minds for the colder months ahead.

YOGA FOR PARENTS WITH KIDS

These classes are open mainly to parents who need/want to bring their kid(s) with them. Parents alone are welcome too but they need to be aware of the nature of the session.

During the session adults will be practicing a gentle hatha flow yoga class (open to all levels) while kids will be playing in a designated space in the same room well supervised by a professional adult.

The aim of these classes is to offer parents a refreshing "me-time" break without having to find childcare and provide them with some tools to improve their practice on and off the mat.

The work starts on the mat by re-energizing the body through yoga asana (postures) and pranayama (breath work) and evolves into more insightful and meditative approach through the use of themes, that allows empowerment to happen physically as well as emotionally and mentally. 

Spaces are limited and previous booking is mandatory. Please note that the classes are not suitable for pregnant or post-natal ladies.

The sessions are hosted in the home like and calming Acorns adults & child group space, which is a sanctuary of safe play for children and an oasis of peace and friendship for parents.

When I became a mum 2 years ago I stopped going to Yoga classes as I could not leave my kid to someone else. I had been longing to find a class that was kid friendly but everything I could find was focused on kids and not the parents. I needed an actual adult yoga practice...I had been imagining and visualizing this class for a long time and it is now happening!

After amazing cases of synchronicity I have now found the perfect space for this and the perfect community that is supporting me to do so, and I am now launching this:

A Yoga Class for parents while their child/ren play in the same room supervised by a professional.
This is launching on the 1st of November 2016 in Blackheath.

Our Saturday Open Mornings for the next academic year 2016/17 are as follows:

• Sat 8th October 2016

The timetable of the morning:

• 10.00am - Arrival, refreshments and explore the building
• 10.30am - Welcome and short talk about our school and Steiner education
• 11.00am - Question time and more time to look around the school
• 12.30pm - Finish

You are welcome to bring your child (or children).

A playgroup is run by Acorns staff in a kindergarten which includes some snacks and activities. Help is welcome. Talk to Susannah, please.

Older children will need to attend the talk. 

Teachers and parents of the school will be on hand to answer your questions.

Come to a healthy Harvest lunch followed by an informal and child friendly hands on tutorial  on healthy seasonal family cookery and nutrition with Susannah Andrews,
